Celebrity Guests of 2021
while we love the grandeur of weddings, the opulent brides and the suave grooms, we will always be guests at a wedding more than we will be the bride or groom
where 2021 was a year of many weddings, a lot of celebrities took the opportunity to glam up and wear some incredible outfits we’re in love with, here’s our top picks!
Alia Bhatt
rumours about Alia’s 2022 wedding to Ranbir Kapoor continue to circulate the media, but she’s had a ball attending a lot of her friends weddings over the past few years
this year she made heads turn and divided opinions wearing a yellow and pink lehenga by Manish Malhotra, the underboob backless blouse isn’t the most traditional shape for a lehenga but we are impressed with the fit and love the colour!
a second Manish look everyone agreed was flawless was the palazzo jacket set in fuchsia with colourful embroidery, this fun ensemble is perfect for mehndi or sangeet functions
Faraz Manan designed the next pant set in a beautiful blush grey with split cape style floor length jacket in sequin that floats as she catwalks, estimated to cost around £2,000 / $2,700
Alia also loves a saree, and in early 2021 she attended her close friends wedding wearing a lovely red frill saree with embellished bralet from Arpita Mehta - but our fave look has to be the Papa Don’t Preach lehenga in muted orange; the simplicity yet incredible detail is a work of perfection!
Kiara Advani
onto our second Alia, Kiara, who has also made a few heads turn in her more risqué choices of blouses for all her outfits
the backless blouse of the olive green sequin & beadwork saree is none other than Manish Malhotra, a perfect look for a sangeet or reception
Kiara’s colour is definitely pink though, she is glowing wearing an Arpita Mehta embroidered lehenga with mirrorwork details, featuring a low cut bralet blouse that is once again, backless
(every time we read the word backless we can’t help put think of Poo from K3G, anyone else?)
gold and yellow tones next with the sharara set that comes with an all embellished cape from Ritika Mirchandani, who’s latest collection is all about the embellishment
our favourite look is the last, there’s something about it’s simplicity and the ability to wear the lehenga over and over again that appeals to us. the designer is Faabiiana who’s dressed an array of celebs in the past like Shilpa, Tabu & Kajol
the Kapoor’s
with over 100m followers on social media combined, you would think that they’d be able to take better pictures at their sisters wedding? I guess it just proves that these siblings are no different to us all..
at Rhea Kapoor’s intimate summer wedding, a few of the more famous siblings donned designer looks that looked incredible - the main one for us being Shanaya in Manish Malhotra - the yellow lehenga has floral and forest embroidered detailing, which continues in the wrap bralet blouse
the hues of blue in the dupatta were a great choice to add a little more colour to the overall look, and to match her sister Khushi in the infamous blue Anita Dongre number; the high low skirt features incredible floral and forest paintwork
Sonam went for an Anamika Khanna anarkali for the wedding day (pictured however wearing a more casual Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla) and Arjun wore Kunal Rawal
Bhumi Pednekar
a talented actor with an incredible sense of style, Bhumi’s been to a fair few weddings in 2021 and what’s great to see is all her outfits were so different
the first yellow lehenga was (shock) Manish Malhotra (there’s a theme here with the blouses) featuring a simple cut out bralet blouse and heavy sequin skirt, which she wore to best friend Anushka Ranjan’s wedding in November
Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor is the designer of the beige embellished lehenga, featuring a trending new dangling beadwork finish on the blouse, and also the designer behind Bhumi’s mint green embroidered sharara look
following through to the next brown lehenga set with Gujarati influence embroidered blouse by JJ Valaya, this silk number is giving us autumnal vibes & the belt reminiscent to Anushree..
lilac is a new trending colour for the upcoming wedding season, and Bhumi got to it first in the Manish Malhotra mirrorwork set back in Feb ‘21
Sid M & Varun D
step aside ladies, the gents are here, both wearing Kunal Rawal in two very different looks. Sid goes for the cool boy look in a bright red sherwani with yoke details paired with jeans and biker boots, and Varun opts for traditional wearing an embroidered waistcoat, patterned kurta and pale pink dhoti
Athiya Shetty
straight out of a magazine catalogue, Athiya nails it every time that we’d actually be worried to invite her to our weddings.. all worn recently at the Aditya Anushka wedding, these are looks that can be worn all year around
effortlessly beautiful in florals, the pink lehenga set by Shehla Khan boasts a custom vintage floral print designed by them & is available to make into any shape
it’s sequin drip for the reception in a gold embellished number by Falguni Shane Peacock which features linear sequin beadwork and chevron sequin blouse
the last pink look is by Anita Dongre, which proves that pink is Athiya’s colour! the silk lehenga set features a simple blouse with linear embroidery, which moves into a chevron pattered skirt with large floral gold embroidery on the border - just beautiful
Athiya is on the guest list for many more weddings in 2022, we can’t wait to see her next looks!
Tara Sutaria
our personal favourite actress, we think she’s simply stunning - and this look by Falguni Shane Peacock is just another reason why we love her! Tara rocked this look recently attending a winter wedding, it’s quite bold to wear white where a lot of brides are opting for more pastel colours - but the risk is worth it when looking at all the details on the blouse and skirt
Vaani Kapoor
a celebrity that has attended the most weddings in 2021, Vaani has slayed all her looks with most being more comfortable choices anyone could wear
the dark based floral gown by Gauri and Nainika gives us winter wedding feels, effortlessly perfect for a reception or sangeet - with the second dress being a little more traditional by Manish Malhotra, the chikankari ensemble is a timeless wardrobe staple
the next look is our favourite of the six, the green tie-dye effect lehenga skirt is simple yet stunning, designed by Arpita Mehta it features a v-neck embellished blouse with statement dupatta
white and pink hues are everlasting (and amazing on Asian skin tones), the next two looks from Manish Malhotra feature white embroidery, chikankari pattern work and embellishments that radiate princess energy
the last look is one Vaani wore to Anushka Ranjan’s wedding as her bridesmaid, a simple blush pink anarkali by Anita Dongre with all over embroider details and beautiful flare - a simple bridesmaid look we can create for you here at Kishan Kerai, get in touch with us via our Custom Order page!
